Kevin L. Faulconer is the 36th mayor of San Diego and the only Republican mayor to lead one of the top 10 largest cities in the United States.

With his platform of "One San Diego,” Mayor Faulconer demonstrates a pathway toward an inclusive city government that creates opportunities and improves the lives of residents in all neighborhoods. His methods illustrate a way to reform government into a responsive and results-driven organization that efficiently and effectively serves the public.

Benjamin Haddad
Principal, California Strategies
 


Benjamin Haddad established California Strategies, San Diego, in 2006. Previously, he served as senior vice president at Science Applications International and in key appointments by Governor Wilson, including Director of California’s Washington, D.C. Office, Deputy Secretary of Resources, and Cabinet Secretary. He also served as Chief of Staff to San Diego Mayor Susan Golding and to San Diego area Congressman Bill Lowery.

Mr. Haddad has been president and chair of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce, co-founded the Business Leadership Alliance, chaired LEAD San Diego and the San Diego Center for Children, and currently serves on the boards of The San Diego Foundation and the National Conflict Resolution Center.



The Herbert G. Klein Lecture on Civic and Community Leadership was established by the USC Donrsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences in 2006 to honor Klein's contributions to the communications field. The lecture brings distinguished leaders from a wide spectrum of disciplines to speak on the subjects of civic leadership, community activism and political participation to current and prospective students, alumni and friends of USC.

$40 per person
